Crash alert: 2 people sent to hospital after driver leads police on pursuit in Henniker

HENNIKER, NH – A man from Laconia is facing multiple charges after he led police on a chase that ended when he collided with multiple trees, and then attempted to flee the scene in Henniker early yesterday morning.

According to WMUR, the incident began just after 12 a.m., after an officer in Bow attempted to perform a traffic stop on 50-year-old Laconia man Eric Lewis. Lewis failed to stop for the officer, leading police on a pursuit. He was reportedly driving erratically and failed to maintain a steady speed or a single lane.

He crashed off Route 202, colliding with multiple trees and a stone wall. Lewis then attempted to flee the scene on foot.

The officer was able to use his K9 partner to locate Lewis, and to take him into police custody.

Lewis and his passenger were taken to the hospital in Concord to be evaluated.

Lewis is facing multiple charges, including aggravated DUI, disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, and improper conduct following a collision.
