Crash Alert: 2 seriously injured in wrong-way crash

NASHUA, NH – Two people were critically injured in a wrong-way, head-on collision on the Everett Turnpike around midnight on Wednesday.

According to NBC Boston, Nashua resident Matthew L. Wicks, 37, drove his 2018 Audi Q7 east in the westbound lanes of the Turnpike. Wicks collided head-on with the driver of a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe heading west.

Carol B. Gates, 50, the driver of the Hyundai, is a resident of Greenville, New Hampshire. Gates was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and is listed in serious condition.

First responders found Wicks with life-threatening injuries and airlifted him to a hospital in Boston.

Police suspect that drugs or alcohol and speeding were factors in the crash.
