Crash alert: 27-year-old motorcyclist critically injured after rear-ending pickup

NEW HAMPTON, NH – A 27-year-old woman from Londonderry was severely injured in a motorcycle crash on I-93 in New Hampton on Wednesday night, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

The crash happened on I-93 N, near mile marker 73.2 at about 10:20 p.m., as a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck was traveling in the right lane at a slower speed, due to a reported mechanical problem.

The driver of a 2103 Kawasaki 650 motorcycle, 27-year-old Londonderry woman Victoria Lapusata, reportedly crashed into the back of the pickup truck while traveling at a high rate of speed. Lapusata fell from the motorcycle during the crash.

Lapusata was taken to the hospital in Plymouth with critical, severe injuries.

No other people were hurt in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.

Motorcyclists are often more at risk during a collision due to the fact that, compared to a person in a sedan or SUV, they have less protection against another vehicle.
