DERRY, NH – Three teenagers were taken to the hospital after an ATV crash that happened in Derry this weekend, according to the Londonderry Patch.
The collision occurred on private property near Gulf Road at about noon on Sunday. Four teenagers were riding on a single ATV when the operator of the vehicle was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed, “beyond their capability to operate an ATV safely,” according to a representative from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation office.
The ATV struck a stump near the trail, then collided head-on with a tree.
The driver and two passengers were ejected from the vehicle and suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious as a result. The three injured teens were transported to the hospital for treatment, while the remaining passenger refused treatment at the scene.
The four teenagers were not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
NH Fish and Game officials believe that the driver’s inexperience and speed contributed to the collision.
