Crash alert: Derry man airlifted to Boston after crashing go-kart into tree

SANDOWN, NH – A man was airlifted to the hospital in Boston after he crashed a go-kart into a tree in Sandown on Monday afternoon, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

The crash occurred on private property near Hershey Road at about 3 p.m., when 23-year-old Derry man Alex Forrester lost control of a go-kart while riding on a trail. His vehicle went off the trail, then collided with a tree.

Forrester, who reportedly was not wearing a helmet or safety harness, was taken to the hospital in Hampstead, and from there, was airlifted to Boston for treatment. He suffered serious, possibly life-threatening wounds in the accident.

Authorities believe that Forrester’s speed and inexperience with an off-road vehicle may have contributed to the accident.
