Crash alert: Driver airlifted to hospital after fiery tractor-trailer crash on Rt. 16

TAMWORTH, NH – A driver was airlifted to the hospital following a fiery tractor-trailer accident on Route 16 in Tamworth this afternoon, according to WMUR.

The crash occurred near Chocorua Road and Page Hill Road at about 12:30 p.m., after the driver of a Kia Soul went over the center line and collided with the corner of a tractor-trailer headed in the opposite direction. The truck then burst into flames.

The driver of the Kia was airlifted to the hospital in Maine with undisclosed injuries.

The two occupants of the truck were not hurt in the collision.

The accident caused the closure of Route 16 as authorities investigated the crash. Their efforts continue at this time.
