Crash alert: Drivers escape with minor injuries after head-on crash in Dover

DOVER, NH – Two drivers suffered only minor injuries after a head-on collision on the Spaulding Turnpike in Dover on Sunday night, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

The crash happened on the Spaulding Turnpike (Route 16 S) near Exit 7 at about 8:05 p.m., as a 2005 Honda Accord, being driven by 22-year-old Cameron Peters, of York, Maine, suffered a mechanical malfunction.

Peters lost control of the Accord, then crashed into a guardrail on the left shoulder. He was sent across all lanes of the highway and then collided with the guardrail on the right shoulder. He then went over the median, where he collided head-on with 31-year-old Portsmouth resident Thomas Carr, operating a 2019 Volvo XC40.

Both drivers suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

Peters was cited for negligent driving in connection with the accident, which remains under investigation.
