EXETER, NH – A 71-year-old man crashed and overturned a dump truck on Route 101 in Exeter Tuesday afternoon.
Patch reports that the driver crashed his 2007 commercial Mack dump truck into an embankment off of Route 101 around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Lt. John Hennessey said the crash was caused by a mechanical failure in the truck, not by driver error.
The 71-year-old resident of Billerica, MA was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
The dump truck nearly struck a Rockingham County Sheriff’s deputy, who was making a routine traffic stop at the time of the truck’s mechanical failure.
The deputy was transported to Exeter Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
