MERRIMACK, NH (HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY) – A man has died from injuries he sustained in a dramatic, fiery collision, which at one point involved the victim being trapped beneath his blazing vehicle, in Hillsborough County this weekend.
According to WHDH, the accident happened on the Everett Turnpike near Exit 10 at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a 2014 Subaru lost control of the vehicle and ran off the side of the road.
The driver, 38-year-old Goffstown man Charles Daly, then collided with a guardrail. The vehicle then swerved to the opposite side of the roadway and hit a barrier before it rolled over an unspecified number of times.
Daly was ejected from the car then pinned beneath the vehicle, which burst into flames soon after.
Multiple bystanders helped extinguish the fire, and emergency crews worked to rescue Daly from the wreckage. After being extricated with the help of a carjack, he was sent for treatment at Massachusetts General.
He died at the hospital of injuries sustained during the crash.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident and are asking any possible witnesses to come forward. Massachusetts State Troopers can be reached at 603-223-4381.
