NASHUA, NH – A man was severely injured when he crashed into a bridge abutment on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Nashua on Monday afternoon, according to the New Hampshire State Police.
The crash occurred on the off-ramp for Exit 2 on the Everett Tnpk at about 2:50 p.m.
The driver of a red 2013 Buick Encore, 59-year-old Nashua man Kevin Hanley, was unable to navigate a curve in the roadway. His vehicle then crashed head-on into a bridge abutment.
He was pulled from the wreckage by a good Samaritan just before the vehicle burst into flames.
Hanley was taken to a local hospital, and from there was airlifted to Boston for the treatment of severe injuries.
Authorities believe speed may have factored into the collision, though their investigation continues at this time.
No other people were involved in the crash.
