DERRY, NH – A police officer was seriously hurt after being struck by a driver and pinned to his vehicle in Derry on Friday morning, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.
The accident occurred on Drew Road at about 8:30 a.m., as 27-year-old Derry Police officer Kevin Davies was responding to a previous collision that had occurred about 45 minutes prior.
He was struck by a vehicle whose driver had reportedly lost control on the snowy roadway. The impact pinned Davis to the rear of his patrol vehicle.
He was conscious and able to call for assistance, and was then taken to the hospital in Derry for the treatment of a serious leg injury and possible other wounds. He is expected to make a recovery.
The motorist, who may have been driving in an unsafe manner, remained at the scene following the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time.
