Crash alert: Paddleboarder sent to hospital after being hit by boat

LAKE WINNIPESAUKEE, NH – A paddleboarder was taken to the hospital after being hit by a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee this afternoon, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

The collision happened near Church Landing in Meredith at about 2 p.m., as a 51-year-old boater from Franklin, Mass., who was identified as Karalyn Remillard, was attempted to dock a pontoon boat.

Remillard then crashed into a paddleboarder, a 51-year-old woman from Chappaqua, New York.

Multiple people on the boat rendered aid to the paddleboarder and helped her out of the water. The paddleboarder was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision. At this time, they do not believe impaired boating played a role in the crash.
