Crash Alert: Pilot injured after plane crashed into Lake Winnipesaukee

GILFORD, NH – A 78-year-old man was injured Sunday when his plane’s engine stopped working 1,000 feet above Lake Winnipesaukee.

The pilot, David Grapes, was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia with non-life-threatening injuries. Grapes’ plane crashed into the Lake and he was picked up by a passing boat near Grouse Point in Meredith Bay, according to Patch.

The plane sunk some 65 feet into the lake after crashing. Authorities are still investigating the details of the crash.
