TILTON, NH – A pedestrian was killed and another was seriously hurt after the victims were struck by the driver of a pickup truck in Tilton yesterday, according to WMUR.

The accident occurred at about 4:45 p.m., near the intersection of Sherwood Drive and East Main Street, when a pickup truck headed east on Main St collided with a 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman who were crossing the street.

The woman was taken to the hospital in Concord, where she was later pronounced dead.

The man was brought to the same hospital for the treatment of serious wounds.

The driver, who was not reported as injured, remained at the scene after the crash.

The identities of the victims and the driver have not yet been released.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident at this time.

While all crashes can be traumatic experiences, accidents involving pedestrians tend to be some of the most painful. Pedestrians have little protection against a car in the case of a crash, making them often more deadly than other types of accidents.
