Trooper injured in series of crashes involving 21 vehicles near Lincoln

LINCOLN, NH – A New Hampshire State Trooper was injured as a result of a series of crashes that occurred on the Franconia Notch Parkway yesterday morning, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

The incident began on the southbound Franconia Notch Pkwy, near Lincoln, just before 8 a.m., when NHSP was called to work a traffic collision.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, three police cruisers were struck by another driver or drivers. An NH State Trooper was inside one of those vehicles and suffered minor injuries.

No civilian injuries were reported.

A total of 21 vehicles—including the three cruisers—were involved in multiple winter-weather crashes in the area.

The driving conditions were described by NHSP as slippery, with the road being covered by “a light coating of ice and snow.”

Travelers were reminded to slow down to account for increased stopping time due to inclement weather conditions.

Authorities closed the southbound lane of the highway for about two hours as they worked the crash.
