Crash Alert: Nj Man Killed, 4 People Injured in Alleged DUI Crash in Seabrook

SEABROOK, NH – A man from New Jersey is dead, and another four people are injured following a collision on I-95 in Seabrook yesterday afternoon that reportedly was related to drunk driving.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, the accident happened on northbound I-95, near Exit 1, at about 12:30 p.m., when the driver of a white 2020 Subaru Outback, identified as 66-year-old Sue Sargent, of Eliot, Maine, lost control of her vehicle.

The Subaru then crashed into a 2019 Toyota Sienna minivan, then went over the median. The Subaru continued and crashed into a red 2016 Jeep Wrangler being driven by 29-year-old Joseph Hoffman, of Colonia, New Jersey.

Hoffman was ejected from the vehicle, then taken to the hospital in Portsmouth. There, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Sargent was brought to the hospital in Portsmouth after suffering severe injuries.

The three passengers in the Jeep were 27-year-old Michael Hoffman and 29-year-old Matthew Santangelo, both of Colonia, New Jersey, and 27-year-old Jamerson Tisch, of Keyport, New Jersey. These three victims were hospitalized in Seabrook with minor injuries.

The driver of the Sienna, 50-year-old Shannon Geoghegan, of Franklin, Mass., was not hurt in the crash. Her two passengers were also uninjured.

Following an investigation, Sargent was taken into police custody and is facing a charge of aggravated driving while under the influence. She remains hospitalized as of this morning.

She has been released on personal recognizance bail, and her arraignment date is pending her release from the hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
